The StepCrew performs at MATRIX:MIDLAND June 10

MIDLAND – Fall into step with the international dance sensation The StepCrew, presented by MATRIX:MIDLAND Festival 2011 on Friday, June 10 at 8 p.m. at Midland Center for the Arts. The youthful troupe’s style of tap and traditional dance is noteworthy for its sheer physicality, high energy and exceptional caliber of technique and artistry. Consisting of seven dancers, three of whom also fiddle like the wind and a five-piece band, the Canadian ensemble will show the audience the amazing similarities and differences between three captivating dance styles. The StepCrew is co-sponsored by Dow Corning Corporation and Dow Chemical Employees’ Credit Union.

The StepCrew, a fusion of fancy footwork, stars the world’s top talents in three captivating dance styles – Irish Step, Ottawa Valley Step and Modern Tap – and three world-class fiddlers backed by an amazing five-piece ensemble comprised of some of the most talented and respected musicians in the Celtic music scene today featuring musicians from the likes of The Chieftains, Cherish the Ladies, and Bowfire! They are the very latest percussive dance sensation to take the United States by storm, transcending traditional dance forms and taking fiddling to new heights with dazzling original choreography, seamless transitions through traditional classics, and modern interpretations of Celtic dances. It’s the dance journey of the year.
