GOVERNMENT MEETINGS  SWAN CREEK TOWNSHIP PLANNING COMMISSION will meet in worksession at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, at the township hall, 11415 Lakefield Road.  NEW HAVEN TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, July 11, due to the Fourth of July Holiday, at the township hall, 2705 E. Easton, Owosso.  MARION TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, due to the Fourth of July Holiday, in the township hall, 11925 S. Merrill Rd. CLUBS/CIVIC GROUPS  MONTROSE HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION members will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, July 11, due to the Fourth of July Holiday, at the Montrose Historical and Telephone Pioneer Museum, 144 E. Hickory St.  ST. CHARLES HISTORICAL SOCIETY members will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 7, at the St. Charles Historical Museum, 249 S. Saginaw St. Regular hours at the museum are Tuesdays from noon to 2 p.m.; Thursdays from 5 to 7 p.m.; and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon.  GLEANER’S TRI COUNTY ARBOR of Montrose meets on the first Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Montrose Railroad Depot. The public is welcome.  The TRI-CITY WOOD CARVERS meet at 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month at the Saginaw Township Fire Station Number Three on Shattuck Road. Carving topics are discussed of interest to carvers of all skill levels.  CHESANING AMERICAN LEGION POST #212 will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, due to the Showboat Music Festival, at the Legion Hall on McKeighan. The Shiawassee County DISABLED AMERICAN VETERANS and DISABLED AMERICAN VETERANS AUXILIARY will meet on Tuesday, July 5 at 6 p.m. at the Council on Aging building, 300 N. Washington St., Owosso. Veterans and their families are encouraged to attend. Entry into the Council on Aging building is through the handicappedaccessible door by the back parking lot. CHURCHES  TRAINING IN THE NEW EVANGELIZATION prepares high school students and young adults to share their faith through talks, personal witness, skits, songs and group work. Youth to Youth Catholic Evangelization will hold summer training July 26 – July 28, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. each day. For those who are thinking, “I am deathly afraid to stand up and speak in front of people. Could Youth to Youth training be possible for someone like me?” The answer is “Yes.” Talk to any member of the Youth to Youth Catholic Evangelization team about what it was like for them to first learn to evangelize, and get many different responses. Youth to Youth training equips its members to work together as a team with each member contributing his or her unique qualities. The POWELL FAMILY REUNION will be held on Saturday, July 16 from noon until 5 p.m. at Barber Memorial Park in Montrose, south of M- 57 on the east side of Seymour Road. Meat and condiments will be provided. Attendees should bring a dish to pass, drinks (no alcohol allowed in park), table service and comfortable lawn chairs for those who need them. They will have the white elephant sale again this year. Those attending are encouraged to bring any items that someone else can’t do without and that they actually want to get rid of. They should also bring family pictures to show and family military pictures to be added to the Military and Veteran Family Honor Roll Banner. Also, those who were married while in the service and who are still married to the same spouse should bring a 5x7 or 4x6 photo to be added to the banner for 2012. If there is a Powell in the family tree, they are encouraged to come and register so the family genealogy book and addresses with emails can be updated. Donations will be collected to cover costs for next year’s reunion. There will be fun, games and activities for everyone. SENIORS  The MARION TOWNSHIP SENIOR CITIZENS will meet on Monday, July 11, due to the Fourth of July Holiday. ODDS & ENDS  In conjunction with the 17th Annual St. Charles “Golden Oldies” Car Show, the St. Charles Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a COMMUNITY-WIDE RUMMAGE SALE for Friday, July 8 through Sunday, July 10. Maps will be available at: Community State Bank, Firstbank, St. Charles District Library, St. Charles Village Office, Tony’s of St. Charles and McDonald’s Restaurant. FOOD AND FELLOWSHIP  There will be a COMMUNITY SOUP SUPPER on the second Saturday of each month frmo 5 to 7 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 1629 Brady St., Chesaning. No reservations are needed and there is no cost. The supper is open to all. Those in need of a ride should call (989) 845-3157 Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  There will be a ROAST BEEF DINNER on Wednesday, July 3, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Chesaning.
