GOVERNMENT MEETINGS
• MAPLE GROVE TOWNSHIP BOARD will
meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, in the
township hall, 17010 Lincoln Road.
• MONTROSE TOWNSHIP BOARD OF
TRUSTEES will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb.
21 in the Township Hall, 139 S. Saginaw.
• CHESANING VILLAGE COUNCIL will meet
at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, in the council chambers at the village office, 1100 W.
Broad Street.
CLUBS AND CIVIC GROUPS
• The MID-MICHIGAN SECTION of the SOCIETY OF AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERS – SAE
International will hold its February dinner
and program meeting on Thursday, Feb. 23
at the Bavarian Inn Lodge and Conference
Center, One Covered Bridge Lane,
Frankenmuth. The meeting will be held in
conjunction with the Saginaw Valley
Engineering Council’s annual National
Engineers’ Week Banquet. National
Engineers’ Week will be observed Feb. 19-
25. The student chapters of the Mid-
Michigan Section of SAE International will
report on their efforts to compete in the SAE
Collegiate Design Competitions. Social hour
is at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. The program begins at 8 p.m. The menu is a familystyle chicken dinner buffet. The cost is $25
for SAE and Saginaw Valley Engineering
Council members, $20 for retirees, $18 for
students ,and $30 for non-members. This

• NEW LOTHROP LIONS CLUB will meet at 7
p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at the New
Lothrop Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
• The SHIAWASSEE COUNTY HISTORICAL
SOCIETY will meet on Sunday, Feb. 26, at 2
p.m. at the Archives/Museum Building on
the corner of North M-52 and Wilkinson
Road. The speaker will be David Baughman,
who will speak on “Growing up on the Farm.”
This will be a very interesting meeting.
Visitors can also view the bulletin board with
the latest happenings featured, and the Civil
War exhibit. Refreshments will be served,
and the public is invited.
FUNDRAISERS
• There will be a Bridging The Gap SCRAPBOOKING CROP on Saturday, March 10 from
10 a.m. to 9 p.m. (doors open at 9:45 a.m.)
at the Riverfront Grille, 128 N. Front St.,
Chesaning. Proceeds will go to support the
Chesaning River Rapids Footbridge Project.
The cost is $35 per person if registration is
received by Feb. 18, $40 after that. The registration fee includes lunch, dinner, drink
and snack bar, goodies and five free raffle
tickets. Raffle tickets will also be available
for purchase. Registration and payment

Life Struttin’ Our Stuff (SOS) Team will hold
a SCRAPBOOK FUNDRAISER on Saturday,
March 10, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the
Peet Community Center on North Saginaw
Street in downtown Chesaning. The cost is
$30 per person., and includes lunch and dinner, bell hop service upon arrival and departure, hourly prize giveaways, make-n-takes,
goodie bag, local vendors and a grand prize
drawing. Reserve space by March 1 or book
with a friend and receive extra chances to
win prizes. Late entries are welcome.

Relay For Life will be accepted.
• There will be a HOT WHEELS RACING FOR
A CAUSE on Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Kmart
Store, 5135 Gratiot Road, Saginaw.
Registration is at 9:30 a.m. with racing at
10 a.m. A $5 donation gets one Hot Wheels
car to race. A $10 donation gets three Hot
Wheels cars to race. A $20 donation gets
three Hot Wheels cars and a t-shirt. All carded Hot Wheels cards will be provided at registration. Only the carded Hot Wheels cars
provided by the event sponsor will be
allowed to race. This will be a single race
elimination with winners moving on to the
next round. Prizes and trophies will be available. The event is open to all ages. All children must be accompanied by an adult. All
racing fees will be donated to the
Community Prescription Support Program
(CrxSP). This non-profit organization is dedicated to assisting low income Saginaw

FOOD AND FELLOWSHIP
• The Chesaning United Methodist Men will
be sponsoring a PANCAKE SUPPER on
Tuesday, Feb. 21 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in
the Trinity United Methodist Church
Fellowship Hall. The menu includes pancakes, French toast, sausage and has
browns. The cost is $5 for adults, $2.50 for
children ages 5-12 (free for those under age
5) with a maximum $15 per immediate family. Everyone is invited to join in for Fat
Tuesday, the day before the Lenten season
begins.
• The Montrose United Methodist Men’s
Club will be sponsoring a FAT TUESDAY PANCAKE SUPPER on Tuesday, Feb. 21 from
4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Montrose United
Methodist Church. They will be serving pancakes, sausage, applesauce and beverages.
A free will donation will be collected.
SUPPORT GROUPS
• The SHIAWASSEE COUNTY MULTIPLE
SCLEROSIS SELF-HELP GROUP will meet on
Tuesday, Feb. 21 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the St.
Johns United Church of Christ, 429 N.

CHESANING is inviting a new, healthier public to join them at the Rehmann Health

for $1.70 a week? Members receive a magazine ever other month with articles on support, medical advice, research and recipes

CHURCHES
• Back by popular demand, the Mt. Zion
Catholic Community will welcome Traditional
Anglican Archbishop Sean Larkin to present
its annual SPRING CONFERENCE entitled “If
God is for us, who can be against us?”
(Romans 8:31b) on Saturday, March 3, from
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the church, 8228 N.
McKinley Road, Flushing. Archbishop Larkin
encountered the reality of the Holy Spirit in
1976, and later trained as an Ignatian spiritual
director. He has shared in the suffering
and joy of serving Christ’s church on a united front. The cost is $25 for pre-registration,

• On Tuesday, March 6 there will be a
MEMORIAL CELEBRATION for the deceased
members and the deceased family members
of the Knights of Columbus Council #2943
at St. Michael Catholic Church of Oakley.
There will be a potluck dinner at 5 p.m., and
then a celebration of Mass at 7 p.m. All are

• The Chesaning Chamber of Commerce will
be hosting a TEXAS HOLD ‘EM AND CASINO
NIGHT from 6:30 p.m. to midnight on
Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012 at the Riverfront

• The Montrose Senior Citizen Center will be
holding a EUCHRE TOURNAMENT on the
second and fourth Wednesday of each

SCHOOLS
• NEW LOTHROP AREA PUBLIC SCHOOLS
BOARD OF EDUCATION will meet at 6 p.m.
Monday, FEb. 20, for a regular meeting in
the High School Library, 9285 Easton Rd.,
New Lothrop. There will be a public hearing
to discuss the district’s policy on anti-bullying during the meeting.
BAZAARS AND CRAFT SHOWS
• There will be a CRAFT SHOW, sponsored
by Poorman Productions, on Saturday and
Sunday, March 17 and 18 at the Circus Park
Hall on Wilson Road in Clio. Saturday hours
are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday hours
are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is
