Our Citizens

Air Force Airman Michael N. Lanctot recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Lanctot is the son of Michael T. Lanctot, of Montrose, and grandson of Marilyn Lanctot, of Clio. He is a 2011 graduate of Clio High School. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Air Force Airman Alexander J. Miller recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. The 2011 graduate of St. Charles High School is the son of Linda Miller, of Saginaw, and grandson of Mary Jo Ruhlig, of St. Charles. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo has announced its dean’s list for the fall, 2011 semester. To be eligible, students must have completed at least 12 semester hours of work during the fall or spring semester for a letter grade, and have a grade point average of at least 3.50 for the semester. Among local honorees were: Kelly George, Brittney Grant and Chelsea Mahoney, all of Chesaning.

Gregory Smith, of Montrose, a junior in psychology at Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla, Mo., has been named to the honor list for the 2011 fall semester. Honor list recipients must have carried a minimum of 12 hours and had grade point averages of 3.2 or above out of a possible 4.0.
