With only one wrestler available, Flint Powers Catholic opted to drop out, leaving just Chesaning and the host Cavaliers to battle it out. Both were reigning district champs from a year ago.

Before the match, Chesaning coach Jeremy Reiber said, “This will be interesting. We match up well with each other. We’re like mirror images of each other.”

The Indians opened with a forfeit at 215 lbs., then reeled off a 21-6 lead through 119 lbs. The Cavaliers cut the lead to 21-18 after 130 lbs., and the score was knotted at 27-27 after a Corunna win at 145 lbs.
