Lady Indian netters earn return trip to D-4 state tournament

PORTLAND – Chesaning’s varsity girls’ tennis team finished in third place at the Division 4 regionals at Portland on Thursday, May 17, earning a spot in the state finals on Friday and Saturday, June 1-2, in Novi.

Durand won the regional tournament with 26 points. Portland was second with 20 points. Chesaning and Lansing Catholic Central tied for third with 19 points.

Individually, Casey Hartt took first at number two singles for the Indians. Anna Bates, at number one singles, Katelynn Princinsky, at number four singles, and the team of Jadyn Mathis and Katelynn Ferry, at number two doubles, each finished second in their flight.

Chesaning last went to the state finals in 2016, finishing 14th.
