St. Charles softball girls bow out with 6-5 loss to Hemlock

HEMLOCK – St. Charles’ varsity softball team dropped a 6-5 heartbreaker to host Hemlock in a district semifinal contest played on Saturday, June 2 at Hemlock.

The Lady ‘Dawgs led the always-tough Lady Huskies by a 5-3 count before Hemlock rallied for three decisive runs in the bottom of the seventh to end STC’s season.

“We came into this district game prepared both physically and mentally and we played very well against a strong opponent,” said St. Charles coach Mandy Volk.

Payton Parrish took the loss in the circle, keeping Hemlock in check most of the way until the seventh. Parrish helped herself out at the plate as she had a hit and two RBI’s. Six different batters stroked one hit apiece with RBI safeties coming off the bats of Allison Duranso and Grace Douglas.

“I am very proud of this team and all it has accomplished this year and we have a great foundation to build on for next year,” concluded Volk.
