RITA (SCHIMMOLLER) GUZIAK, 95, went into the arms of her Lord Jesus on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Oliver Woods Retirement Village in Owosso. She has joined her beloved husband of 61 years, James. Rita lived her whole life in Chesaning, attended Chesaning High School and Saginaw Business College. She was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II with her service recognized in the Women’s Memorial in Washington, DC. For many years she and her husband, James, owned a Sinclair Oil distributorship, and later Rita worked at Michigan Farm Bureau. After retiring, she became the clerk of Brady Township from 1988 until 1996. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, the League of Catholic Women and, for over 70 years, the American Legion Auxiliary in Chesaning.

She is survived by her son, Charles (Joan) Guziak, of Henderson, and daughters, Marie (Todd) Pryor, of Grand Rapids, and Joyce (George) Russel, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; along with six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 6, 2018 at St. Peter Parish, in Chesaning, with burial at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Chesaning. The family wishes to express the deepest thanks for the loving care from the staffs at both Oliver Woods and Grace Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donors are asked consider giving to a charity of their choice. Arrangements were entrusted to the Misiuk Funeral Home of Chesaning.
