Book Discussion Group: Our selection for the October book discussion is My Sister’s Bones by Nuala Elwood. Stop by the library and pick up a copy then join us on Wednesday, Oct. 17.

On Thursday, Oct 11, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., we will be offering Writing Your First (or second, or third) novel - Preparing your Manuscript to Self Publish at Createspace. November is NANOWRIMO (NAtional NOvel WRIting MOnth). To help you take on the challenge of writing your own 50,000 word novel in the month of November, come out to this workshop to learn how to prepare your manuscript to self-publish your book on Createspace. See https://nanowrimo.org for more information on NANOWRIMO and plan on coming out to our Come Write In sessions each Thursday evening in the month of November.

Registration for an adult monthly social is going to begin the second week of October at the Taymouth Township Library. This will be a great time to share ideas, discuss books, bring a craft or color. Coloring pages and snacks will be provided. The suggested times are Monday evenings at 6:30 p.m., or Tuesday afternoons at 2 p.m. Please call the library at (989) 770-4651 to register.

The St. Charles District Library Board will meet on Sunday, Oct. 7, at 6:30 p.m. The meeting is open to the public.

There will be a card making and iris paper folding workshop on Tuesday, Oct. 9, from 4 to 6 p.m. There is no fee. Please call the library to register.

The Adult Coloring Group will meet on Friday, Oct. 19, from 10 a.m. to noon.

The Friends of the Library book and bake sale will be held Thursday, Oct. 25 from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Friday, Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Friends of the Library quilt raffle will be Friday, Oct. 26 at 5 p.m. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5. Tickets can be purchased at the library.

Vendors are wanted for our first annual craft show to be held on Saturday, Nov. 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the St. Charles District Library, 132 S. Saginaw St., St. Charles. The cost is $20 per table. To register, contact (989) 865-9371.

The Friends of the St. Charles District Library will accept book donations the first Monday of every month from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Books must be in good condition. We cannot accept text books, encyclopedias, magazines or Reader’s Digest Condensed.

Hours of Operation: Monday – Thursday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday closed.

The New Lothrop Branch of the Community District Library will have an Imagination Station set up for children ages 7-10 on the second Monday of each month beginning Oct. 8. From 2:45 to 3:30 p.m., children can use their imagination when making crafts, playing games and creating pictures. A snack will be provided. Preregistration is required the week before each event to allow for planning for supplies.

On Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 3 p.m. Sloan/ Longway Museum will present its version of Hogwarts at the library. Kids ages 6 to 12 will explore the world of wizardry, design their own wands and create magical spells and potions.
